Academic Prep: How to Be a University Student

Academic Prep: How to Be a University Student is a non-credit, one-week summer course for incoming students. Students who take this course get a head start on university success by learning evidence-based academic skills and habits.

This course can help students start university with confidence so they have a more successful first year at Carleton.

The course teaches and guides students through a blend of lectures and readings, plus hands-on workshops.

Topics include:

  • Student mental health
  • Notetaking
  • Time management
  • Problem solving

Benefits:

  • Optional group sessions and academic coaching throughout the year
  • Carleton students who take Academic Prep complete more credits and earn higher grades

The course takes place Monday, August 19 to Friday, August 23, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. The course has a fee of $250.

Students register for Academic Prep through Carleton Central along with their credit courses.
