Carleton is excited to welcome your student back for a regular in-person schedule this fall! As students prepare for the school year, the next few weeks may feel busy. Depending on their year of study there is a lot for your student to consider, especially as some transition to in-person learning.
There will be many opportunities for your student to meet new people and contribute to the Carleton community this year. Encourage your student to regularly visit the Current Students website and follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @MyCarletonU for student news, events, services and key dates as we prepare for the Return of the Ravens!
With registration for the upcoming academic year, students have to make important decisions. Among these may be to declare a major or minor. If your student is having difficulty choosing, encourage them to speak with an academic advisor or to their departmental advisor.

The U-Pass is a discount transit pass provided to eligible Carleton students. Students are entitled to unlimited travel on OC Transpo and the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) in Gatineau if they are enrolled in 1.5 credits or more in the fall and winter terms. Paul Menton Centre (PMC) Ravens: Launch to Campus
This orientation event is for students who have registered, or will be registering, with the Paul Menton Centre for Students with Disabilities (PMC). Whether your Raven is attending university for the first time or a returning student transitioning back to campus, this live and interactive event is for them! Your student can meet peers and PMC staff, be introduced to the various PMC supports, learn how to set up their academic accommodations and choose from a variety of relevant skill-building workshops.
This event will be offered virtually over Zoom several times before the beginning of the fall term.
Career Services’ Accessible Career Transitions (ACT) Program
Did you know Career Services offers support tailored to students with disabilities? ACT to Employ helps students with disabilities find paid experiential learning opportunities that align with their academic and career goals.
Carleton University also offers the ACT Advising program, which provides career support to Carleton University students and alumni with disabilities.
By registering with the ACT program, students are welcome to access all or some of the services offered by ACT. Find out more on the ACT Advising website.
First Year Connections
First Year Connections is a peer-to-peer mentorship program offered by the Student Experience Office. New and first-year students will be paired with an upper-year student in a similar academic program who can support them in their transition to Carleton.
Each week in September and October, participating students will connect with their mentor to talk about classes, support services, campus life, study skills and more. Free registration for the First Year Connections program is now available.
