LinkedIn is a powerful tool you can use to identify and amplify your brand, make connections in your field, search for jobs and more! Join Career Services at this interactive in-person workshop where you will discover how to make a stand-out professional profile, which will be especially useful in preparation for the in-person Fall Career Fair on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

Note: You do not need to have a fully completed LinkedIn profile to attend this session, however, we advise that you already have an account and an updated resume prior to attending the workshop in order to have a basic understanding of your skills and experiences.

During this workshop, you will learn about:

  • Selecting a profile photo and banner picture
  • Writing a catchy headline and “About” summary
  • Content suggestions for other key LinkedIn profile sections
  • Basics for how to use LinkedIn when networking and conducting a customized job search
  • Differences between first, second, and third degree connections
  • Suggestions for good LinkedIn connections and the best way to send a connection request (especially after attending a networking event)
  • Suggestions on what to follow on LinkedIn

There will be an optional opportunity for attendees of this workshop to have a free LinkedIn headshot taken after the workshop concludes. This will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like to participate, please dress appropriately for the occasion (i.e. dress to impress). Only attendees who participate in the workshop will be eligible for the LinkedIn headshot opportunity.
