The Carleton University Umbrella Project has partnered with Respect RX Pharmacy to offer an Opioid Awareness and Substance Use Stigma Seminar in which participants will learn:
- An overview of the opioid crisis
- The effects of opioids and how to recognize signs of an overdose
- Information about Narcan (nasal naloxone) and how it can be used to temporarily reverse an overdose
- How stigmas around substance use and mental health is a barrier to care
- How to be an ally
Participants who complete this training and wish to obtain a naloxone kit will receive a certificate of completion via email and be able to acquire the kit at the Prescription Shop pharmacy on campus (1100 CTTC building). Naloxone kits can also be accessed for free at participating pharmacies. If you have additional questions or concerns please contact Dillon Brady, Manager, Student Conduct and Harm Reduction.
