The Faculty of Engineering and Design, in collaboration with the Feminist Institute of Social Transformation, invites the Carleton community to mark Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The day honours memories of the 14 women who were killed in the 1989 massacre at École Polytechnique.
Beginning at 12:15 p.m., Cynthia Cruickshank, associate dean of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the Faculty of Engineering and Design; Megan Rivers-Moore, director of the Feminist Institute of Social Transformation and Emily Knobel, president of the Carleton Student Engineering Society, will offer remarks followed by a moment of silence. Attendees will then be invited to complete an allyship pledge in honour of those who have experienced gender-based violence.
White ribbons will be available. Please note the ceremony will be standing room only.
