Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Ottawa for today through Friday.
A low-pressure system will impact the area today into Friday. The heaviest rain is expected to fall this afternoon through Friday morning.
Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas. Some travel delays are possible. Don’t drive through flooded roadways. Allow extra time for travel.
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to continue to monitor the Current Students weather page for updates.
The university remains open and operations are running as scheduled.
Please exercise caution when traveling to and commuting on campus.
Update #1: Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 4:30 p.m.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Ottawa for long-duration rainfall expected Thursday and Friday.
A long-duration rain event is expected for parts of eastern Ontario. Rain, at times heavy, will begin early Thursday morning and continue through Friday evening before tapering off. The heaviest rain is expected to fall Thursday afternoon through Friday morning.
Heavy downpours may cause flash flooding and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights and be prepared to stop.
