Environment Canada has ended the special weather statement for rainfall. The flash freeze warning for Ottawa remains in effect.

Environment Canada has issued a flash freeze warning for Ottawa late this afternoon or early evening. Temperatures are forecast to fall rapidly. Ponding water, slush, and any falling precipitation will freeze as the temperature drops.
Icy and slippery conditions are expected to develop as temperatures rapidly fall below the freezing mark. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous.
The special weather statement for rainfall remains in effect.
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to continue to monitor the Current Students weather page for updates.
The university remains open and operations are running as scheduled.
Please exercise caution when traveling to and commuting on campus.

Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for Ottawa for the afternoon and evening of Thursday, March 6, 2025. This is in addition to the special weather statement for Ottawa related to rainfall.
Temperatures are forecast to fall rapidly below the freezing mark. Ponding water or wet surfaces can freeze creating icy and slippery conditions. Snow with up to 5 cm possible.
Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

Update #1: Monday, March 3, 2025 at 8:30 a.m.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Ottawa due to risk of freezing rain followed by significant rainfall and mild temperatures. The risk of freezing rain begins the evening of Tuesday, March 4, with rain ending Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
Rain is expected to move into the area Tuesday night. There is a risk of freezing rain as temperatures may be below the freezing mark as the rain begins. Temperatures should quickly rise above zero, and the rain will continue through Wednesday. This rainfall, combined with melting snow and the limited ability of the frozen ground to absorb this rainfall may lead to localized flooding in low lying areas and water pooling on roads.
