In addition to the a rainfall warning, Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for Ottawa.
Near zero visibility in fog is expected or occurring. Visibility may temporarily improve during this afternoon before conditions worsen again this evening. The fog is expected to lift Wednesday, December 11, 2024 in the afternoon. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.

Environment Canada has ended the freezing drizzle advisory. The rainfall warning remains in effect.
Update #3: Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
In addition to the freezing drizzle advisory, Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Ottawa. Rain, heavy at times, is expected the evening of Tuesday, December 10 through the evening of Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
Given the frozen ground, significant amounts of water due to snowmelt and rain could accumulate on roads and low-lying areas. Roads and sidewalks might become slippery with the temperatures dropping significantly overnight on Wednesday, and travel may be impacted.
The university remains open and operations are running as scheduled.
Please exercise caution when traveling to and commuting on campus.

Environment Canada has issued a freezing drizzle advisory for Ottawa. Areas of freezing drizzle are expected or occurring tonight through the morning of Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Freezing drizzle can produce thin, hard-to-detect layers of ice. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
The university remains open and operations are running as scheduled.
Update #1: Monday, December 9, 2024 at 8:30 a.m.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Ottawa for freezing rain and freezing drizzle beginning Monday evening through the morning of Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
Precipitation is expected to begin as snow with up to five cm of snowfall accumulation possible by this evening. Snow is expected to become mixed with or change to freezing rain this evening before tapering to scattered flurries or freezing drizzle overnight. As temperatures are expected to remain near the freezing mark there is a potential for freezing drizzle through the overnight hours into Tuesday morning. Freezing rain warnings or freezing drizzle advisories may be required as the event draws closer. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Tuesday morning commute may be affected.
