Message from the Interim President

Dear members of the Carleton community,
I am pleased to announce that Duane McNair will take on the role of Vice-President (Finance and Administration), effective December 2, 2024.
Duane comes to Carleton from Algonquin College where he has served as their Vice-President, Finance and Administration since 2010. Duane is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) who holds a Master of Business Administration and has over 24 years of senior leadership experience in financial and administrative operations.
While at Algonquin, Duane successfully managed a $96 million budget, led a team of over 500 staff and implemented strategic initiatives that significantly enhanced the college’s financial health and operational efficiency. He also played a key role in major infrastructure projects.
The advisory committee was impressed with his collaborative approach and focus on innovation, and commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility, leading the implementation of an Indigenous wayfinding strategy at Algonquin.
Duane will succeed Interim Vice-President Angela Marcotte, who has provided outstanding support to our Finance and Administration teams since August.
