Severe Thunderstorm Watch Ended

Environment Canada has ended the severe thunderstorm watch. There are not any weather warnings in effect at present.

Update #3: Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 2:05 p.m.

The severe thunderstorm warning has ended. The severe thunderstorm watch for Ottawa remains in place.

Update #2: Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 1:27 p.m.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Ottawa. Meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts and up to nickel size hail.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

Update #1: Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 10:30 a.m.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Ottawa for the afternoon and early evening of Thursday, June 6, 2024.

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain.

Should these thunderstorms strengthen, they may be accompanied by strong winds, hail and heavy rain. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.

Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
