Update #1: Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 4:15 p.m.
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Ottawa for the afternoon and evening of Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
Thunderstorms moving through eastern Ontario have the potential to strengthen this afternoon. Should these thunderstorms strengthen, they may be accompanied by strong winds, hail and heavy rain. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to continue to monitor the Current Students weather page for updates.
The university remains open. Operations will run as scheduled.
Please exercise caution when traveling to and commuting on campus.
