Snowfall Warning for Ottawa Ended

Environment Canada has ended the snowfall warning. Currently, there are not any weather warnings in effect.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Ottawa for Wednesday, April 3 and into Thursday, April 4, 2024.

Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm. Peak snowfall rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour. Reduced visibility in areas of heavier snow.

Rain is expected to move into the region early this morning and slowly transition to snow late in the day. Snow will continue tonight and taper off Thursday. Poor travel conditions are expected, especially during Thursday morning. With temperatures being very close to the freezing mark, the snow may be very heavy and wet in nature. Local utility outages are possible as a result. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to continue to monitor the Current Students weather page for updates.

The university remains open. Operations will run as scheduled.

Please exercise caution when traveling to and commuting on campus.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Ottawa for Wednesday, April 3 and Thursday, April 4, 2024.

Early spring storm expected to bring rain and the potential for significant snow Wednesday through Thursday night. Precipitation is expected to begin as rain transitioning to snow late Wednesday afternoon or early evening. Snow, which may be heavy at times, is expected to continue through Wednesday night easing Thursday night. Significant snowfall accumulations are possible by the time snow begins to ease Thursday night.

Power outages will be possible. Travel may become hazardous due to accumulating snow and reduced visibility.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to continue to monitor the Current Students weather page for updates.

The university remains open. Operations will run as scheduled.
