CANTEACH Grad School Booth and Presentation – Wednesday, March 13, 2024, 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Info booth 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and presentation 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.)

CANTEACH is an educational agency that promotes Teachers College options abroad in New Zealand, Scotland and Wales. At this info booth and session, CANTEACH Director Mike Johnson will be presenting information about one-year programs that allow you to attend Teachers College abroad and become a certified teacher in Ontario. Stop by the booth in the Nideyinàn Galleria to speak one-on-one or attend the group presentation.

Live, Work, Discover Japan – JET Programme Canada Info Booth – Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme is a Japanese-government-sponsored exchange program that offers university graduates opportunities to work in Japan as either an Assistant Language Teacher in public schools or a Coordinator of International Relations in select municipal government offices in Japan. The JET Programme offers one-year contracts that are extendible up to five years, annual salary increases, a round-trip flight to Japan and much more. With 50 participating countries from around the world, Canada is the third biggest provider of participants. JET participants gain valuable work and life experience while having the opportunity to be fully immersed in Japanese daily life and culture. Stop by this booth to learn more!

IBM Z Career Connection Event – Thursday, March 21, 2024, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

At this unique information session, join Career Services to learn all about IBM Z, the extremely powerful computers making the financial world go round with a focus on security, AI and open source tech! This event is designed to introduce students and alumni to IBM Z technology, show you how to learn the relevant skills through free IBM Z Xplore training courses and introduce you to clients in the area who are looking to hire in the near future. Following this event, participants can access the training courses at home in preparation for IBM’s virtual career fair on Friday, April 12, 2024. IBM’s career fair attendants must complete IBM Z Xplore courses prior to the event to be paired with potential employers.

CRA IT Branch Recruitment Information Session – Tuesday, March 26, 2024, 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Canada Revenue Agency IT Branch is looking to hire students and new graduates! Join Career Services at this virtual info session that is targeted to students who are studying computer science, information technology, information management, math and statistics. Students with disabilities and Indigenous students are encouraged to attend. With offices from the Pacific to the Atlantic and everywhere in between, there are lots of IT career opportunities available. During the session, you will to learn about current and future job opportunities, plus hear from recent graduates and alumni working at the CRA and connect with CRA Ambassadors who can answer your questions following the presentation. The CRA offers a variety of apprenticeship and developmental programs for students and recent graduates, all designed to offer hands-on work and educational experiences. There are supportive networks and mentors, and training programs to help employees strengthen their existing skills and learn new ones. If you’re looking for meaningful work and the chance to grow professionally, consider the Information Technology Branch at the CRA!

Discover Technata Career Fair – Tuesday, April 9, 2024, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

If you are serious about a successful career in tech, knowing where to start is easy: Kanata North. With the country’s largest density of technology companies ranging from promising startups to leading global giants, it is a hub for R&D advancement in Canada. Start building your career in Kanata North by attending the 2024 Discover Technata Career Fair to learn about companies in Kanata North and opportunities for your future! Companies that will be attending include: Warner Bros Discovery, MDA, Ciena, Ross Video, Blackberry, ADGA, Nokia, and more. A complimentary shuttle bus from Carleton University will be offered the day of the event. Please note, the registration on mySucces is to register for the shuttle bus (space is limited, registration for the shuttle is first-come, first-served).

Deadline to Apply for Virtual International Internships for Summer

An international internship is a unique opportunity to work internationally for academic credit while gaining real-world work experience, developing contacts in your field and building your resume. The deadline to apply for virtual internships is Monday, April 15, 2024. Here’s what to know about participating in the International Internship Program:

  • Virtual internships are available for summer 2024 and are open to those undergraduates with 2nd year standing and higher at the time of the internship.
  • Internships start at six weeks in length and can be customized to fit your course schedule with a range of flexible start dates.
  • You may be eligible for the International Internship Bursary to offset any costs associated with participating in an internship. The deadline to apply for a bursary is Friday, March 15, 2024.

Applying is the first step to taking part in an internship. Once you apply, you will be provided with the logistical, academic and financial details about internships to see if this program is a good fit for you.
