Free Menstrual Products Available Across Campus

Free menstrual products are now available in more than 60 washrooms across Carleton’s campus.

The dispensers provide pads and tampons and are located in washrooms in the following buildings:

  • Azrieli Theatre
  • MacOdrum Library
  • Minto CASE
  • Nicol Building
  • Nideyinàn
  • Richcraft Hall
  • Southam Hall
  • Tory Building

The location of the buildings and washrooms can be found through the interactive campus map in the Carleton Mobile app.

The free menstrual products are available thanks to a collaboration between several Carleton University offices and the Carleton University Students’ Association (CUSA).

“Carleton is proud to support access to these essential products,” said Grace Haime, Director of Student Affairs and Student Life in the Student Experience Office (SEO). “Increasing the availability of menstrual products increases equity and supports the health and wellness of our community.”

CUSA launched Flowing Rights, an on-campus sexual health, menstrual and reproductive rights initiative in mid-February.

This initiative promotes information and awareness on sexual health, menstrual and reproductive rights. Infographics with resources and emergency phone lines are posted next to the dispensers.

Flowing Rights was created following extensive consultation with Carleton’s Department of Equity and Inclusive Communities (EIC) and CUSA’s commitment to be a pro-reproductive rights and justice organization.

“Flowing Rights is one of many commitments of CUSA’s advocacy mission towards student issues on campus as outlined through the Advocacy Roadmap,” said Faris Riazudden, CUSA President.

Access to menstrual products and resources can help reduce barriers for those who menstruate. Easing access can help people who menstruate study, work and fully participate in campus life in a healthy, meaningful way.

The availability of free menstrual products on campus supports Carleton University’s commitment to enhancing personal wellness and health, outlined in the Strategic Integrated Plan.
