Update: Water in Mackenzie Clear for Consumption

Update 7: Friday, January 26, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.

The results of the water testing for Mackenzie Building came in late yesterday (Thursday, January 25, 2024) and the water is clear for normal consumption. The occupants of the Mackenzie Building were notified.

Crews are continuing to finish their work on Campus Avenue and it remains temporarily to one lane.

Update 6: Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 4:30 p.m.

The water test results have been received for Prescott House and normal water consumption can now resume. Students living in Prescott House have been informed.

Results of the water testing for Mackenzie are expected tomorrow, Wednesday, January 24. In Mackenzie, occupants are asked not to drink the water until final water test results have been received.

Update 5: Friday, January 19, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.

Crews have been working around the clock, and non-potable water service has been restored to Mackenzie Building and Prescott House following the recent water main break on Campus Avenue. near Minto CASE.

The water is being sent for testing and at this time is NOT potable – it should not be consumed. Signage is posted in the affected buildings advising not to drink the water. Occupants may notice the water is discoloured or has different flows.

Campus Avenue remains one lane only for passenger vehicles and OC Transpo buses continue to be diverted to University Drive. Repair work will continue into next week on the water line and on restoration of the roadway.

Updates will be provided following water testing and as new information becomes available.

Update 4: Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 9:00 a.m.

One lane of Campus Avenue from Minto CASE to University Drive has now reopened for passenger vehicle traffic only, following yesterday’s closure due to ongoing water main break repairs. OC Transpo buses are still rerouted to University Drive.

Crews continue work on the water main repairs today.

Updates will be provided as information becomes available.

Update 3: Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 1:30 p.m.

Campus Avenue near the Minto CASE building is closed, as well as the eastbound lane of Library Road from the Engineering Design Centre to Campus Avenue due to ongoing water main break repairs.

These roads will be closed for the commute home today (Wednesday, January 17, 2024) and for the commute onto campus tomorrow morning, Thursday, January 18, 2024.

Crews will be working on repairs through the night.

An update will be provided tomorrow morning.

Update 2: Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 6:30 a.m.

Following the water main break on Campus Avenue near the Minto CASE building yesterday, Campus Avenue has been closed to all traffic at Library Road. OC Transpo buses have been rerouted to University Drive.

The water remains off in Mackenzie Building and Prescott House. Crews continue to work to resolve the outage today.

Update 1: Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 8:00 p.m.

Following a water main break on Campus Avenue near the Minto CASE building earlier today, crews are continuing to work on the issue. At this time, there is no water available in the Mackenzie Building or Prescott House residence.

Excavation work continues at the site of the break in the water line. This has resulted in Campus Avenue being reduced to one shared lane for buses and vehicle traffic. Signage is being posted in Mackenzie Building regarding lack of water service.
