Winter Parking & Respecting Parking Staff

Now that we have seen the first flurries of the season, Parking Services would like to remind you of the following campus parking restrictions in effect between Wednesday, November 15, 2023 and Monday, April 15, 2024, from 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. to facilitate snow removal:

1. No overnight parking is permitted on university roadways or exterior parking lots. Residence students must purchase a permit in the north P18 parking garage and park in this location.
2. All other permitted vehicles must be moved to the P9 garage, P18 garage, or library garage during snow removal operations and must be removed by 7:00 a.m. the following morning.
3. Vehicles remaining parked in any exterior lot after 1:00 a.m. obstructing snow clearing operations will be ticketed and/or towed away at the owner’s expense.

During the winter, it is sometimes difficult to identify parking spaces and lanes and a phenomena called ‘triple parking’ sometimes occurs. This is when drivers are not aware they are the third vehicle to park in a row, blocking the middle vehicle in. In an effort to mitigate this problem, Parking Services have installed additional signage at the each end of parking lanes in most campus parking lots. Please watch for them when you park.

There is no free parking at Carleton University. It is the responsibility of every person using the Carleton University parking facilities and services to conduct themselves in accordance with the Carleton University Parking and Traffic Regulations [PDF, 270 KB].

Carleton University and Parking Services have zero tolerance for the verbal or physical abuse of university and parking enforcement staff. Any violation or abuse may result in disciplinary action or sanctions and revocation of privileges.
