Reminder: COVID-19 Measures

This news post is more than one year old and has been retained for archive purposes. The information below may no longer be relevant.

The fall term is well under way and it has been wonderful to welcome our community back in person for classes and campus activities.

As COVID-19 is still present in our community, it is important we continue to follow public health guidelines and that we take precautions to reduce our risks. Community is a core value at Carleton and we all have the opportunity to demonstrate the care and compassion that our community is known for.

Wearing a mask is strongly encouraged, particularly in indoor settings where physical distancing cannot be maintained. Along with other health care facilities, Health Services and the Sports Medicine Clinic continue to require masks. This is in line with current public health guidance.

Protect your classmates by staying home if you feel unwell. Follow the online symptom reporting process if you have been on campus in the five days prior to symptoms.

Ottawa Public Health encourages Ottawans to “use your layers” to lower risk to yourself and others. Layers include:

  • Being vaccinated with all the doses you are eligible and recommended for
  • Monitoring yourself for symptoms and staying home when sick
  • Wearing a mask (recommended)
  • Avoiding crowded indoor spaces
  • Maintaining physical distancing
    Washing your hands (yes, still)
  • Respecting those who remain at higher risk of complications from COVID-19 by wearing a mask and staying home when sick

Carleton continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will communicate any changes. We ask that everyone remains vigilant and continues to show patience and compassion on campus.
