Service Summary

The Carleton University Students’ Association Foot Patrol offers safe walks on campus, and up to 45 minutes off campus (including public transit) on weekdays from 6:00pm to 2:00am. Safe walks, also known as walk homes, consist of two Foot Patrol volunteers walking you to your destination. To get a safe walk, call (613) 520-4066, drop by our office, or book a walk in advance! This service is available to all members of the Carleton University community.

Foot Patrol also offers a Walk and Talk program, where a Foot Patrol volunteer will stay on the phone with you until you arrive at your destination safely. Call (613) 520-4449 from 6:00pm to 2:00am, and one of our volunteers will be happy to chat with you until you arrive home. The Walk and Talk program can be used from anywhere during our operational hours, provided you have a cell phone signal.

Additionally, our volunteers patrol campus regularly in order to offer an extra set of eyes and ears to the Department of University Safety. Off campus, the Foot Patrol Guardian program keeps students safe at university events by providing support and direction, promoting positive solutions by acting as an intermediary between event security and students, and assisting organizers in various ways.

We’re always looking for volunteers! If you’d like to positively contribute to Carleton’s campus, send us an email, or drop by our office.
Office: 426H University Centre (feel free to stop by for a walk home, or just to say hi!)
