Service Summary

Foot Patrol has modified its services for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please visit their website for details.

CUSA Foot Patrol is a student operated and volunteer based service centre. They provide safe walks, the Walk and Talk service, event teams and safety support through the Guardian Program, and the Borrow a First Aid Kit service. Foot Patrollers operate in pairs, and all volunteers are required to obtain a police record check in the vulnerable sector and complete a Foot Patrol training session prior to joining. Foot Patrol also patrols Carleton, promotes safety awareness, and conducts bi-annual safety surveys of campus. All of their services are free.

Service Summary

Safe Walk: (613) 520-4066

Foot Patrol offers safe walks on campus and up to an hour off campus (including public transit) seven days a week from 6:00pm to 2:00am. Safe walks consist of two Foot Patrol volunteers walking you to your destination. To request a safe walk, please call (613) 520-4066, or drop by the Foot Patrol office in 426H University Centre during their operational hours!

Walk and Talk: (613) 520-4449

Foot Patrol also operates the Walk and Talk program, where a Foot Patrol volunteer will stay on the phone with you until you arrive safely at your destination. Just call (613) 520-4449 from 6:00pm to 2:00am seven days a week to use the service!

Event Teams

Foot Patrol also offers both on and off campus event teams. For smaller, on campus events, a Foot Patrol team can attend to offer safe walks to event attendees.  For larger, usually off campus events, their Guardian Program assists students by offering planning and organizational advice to event organizers, support and direction to attendees, and by helping to ensure all individuals return home safely. To inquire about having a Foot Patrol event team attend your event, please email a week or more in advance of your event.

Borrow a First Aid Kit

Foot Patrol lends a variety of first aid kits to any Carleton University student or group seeking to borrow one for the duration of their event, activity, or outing. The list of available kits can be found in their Borrow a First Aid Kit Inventory List. To sign out a kit, please contact the Foot Patrol office via email, give them a call during their operational hours, or drop by their office!

Foot Patrol is always looking for volunteers! If you’d like to positively contribute to Carleton’s campus, complete their Volunteer Interest Form, send them an email, or drop by their office!
