1 | Organize Yourself
This really helps, trust me! Take some time out of your day before exam season starts and organize your schedule. Use your agenda, phone calendar, or computer calendar to write out all of your important due dates, appointments and study sessions. Once you write it all out and organize everything the way that works for you, you will feel much better and will be able to tackle one job at a time.

2 | Eat Healthy
I know that when you’re busy and studying you want to eat out a lot and snack on junk food but this will only make you feel worse. If you focus on a goal of eating well during exam season, you won’t regret it! One way to cut down on time is by meal prepping. On Sunday afternoon, take a bit of time and prepare some healthy meals for the week. This will allow you to grab something quickly that is much better for you than junk food so you can get back to studying. Eating healthier will help you feel less sluggish, lessen your stress and make you feel fuller longer. Another important thing to remember is to make sure you drink a lot of water to keep hydrated throughout the day.

3 | Pet Therapy
Did you know that Carleton has a therapy dog? His name is Blue and he is SO cute! You can meet him on a first come, first serve basis. He can only see a group of 4 at a time and visits may be timed if there is large demand. Blue is in 131 Renfrew (Residence Counselling Office) and the times and dates can be found on the Carleton Health and Counselling Services website. Trust me, some cuddle time with a pet is one of the best ways to let go of your stress.

4 | Take Advantage of the University’s Services
If you are overly stressed out it is okay to ask for help. Asking for help doesn’t mean you’re incapable in any way, it will only benefit you in the long run. Carleton has so many awesome services that most students don’t take advantage of. Carleton’s Health and Counselling Services offers services such as counselling services to help with stress, anxiety or any other mental health concerns you could be facing. Carleton’s Student Support Services are also very helpful, they encompass services such as, the Centre for Student Academic Support, which helps students with study tips, improvement of writing, and assistance with understanding and applying course material. Regularly attending study groups such as, PASS and PASC will really help you learn good ways to study and understand your classes. PASS facilitators often create mock exams to help with preparedness. These services are only part of the multitude of services offered by Carleton. If you do your research on Carleton’s website you will be able to find all the services you would ever need to help with your studies. Give it a try!

5 | Smile and Take Time for Yourself
I know that sometimes when we have too much on our plate we think that we need to keep working without stopping. It’s okay to stop and take a much-needed rest. It will recharge your brain, help you stay focused when you are working and help your physical, mental and emotional health. One very good and important way to relax is sleep, if you don’t sleep you will be too overworked and all of the studying you have done will not stay in your memory. Other ways to take breaks include, exercising, watching Netflix or spending time with friends.
