Tuition and Ancillary Fees

Estimating the cost of a year of study varies from student to student and depends on the program and number of credits you are registered in. Tuition and compulsory ancillary/miscellaneous fees include classes, U-Pass (Ottawa public transportation), academic, administrative and career support, lab and project resources, library access, athletic facilities, and supplemental health plan.

Please note that Carleton University uses a portion of every student’s fees, as approved by the Board of Governors, to support services on campus. Fees for campus services are not use-based. Students are not eligible for a refund if they do not use one or more of the campus services. The limited exceptions to this rule are noted on the main fee page.

Costs of Textbooks and Other Learning Materials

The following is an estimated cost of textbooks and other learning materials by degree program for one year of study (fall-winter) based on a full-time course load. Please note that uniform and equipment costs refers to personal equipment students are required to rent or purchase to accomplish their course and/or program requirements. This estimated cost does not include the cost of a desktop or laptop computer, or basic computer accessories or software.
