Environment Canada has issued a yellow watch for severe thunderstorms in Ottawa for the afternoon and evening of Mon. Aug. 10, 2026.

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

Hazards include locally heavy rainfall with amounts up to 50 mm. Wind gusts up to 90 km/h. Quarter to ping pong ball size hail.

When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.

The university remains open and operations are running as scheduled.
