Environment Canada has issued a yellow watch for severe thunderstorms on Mon. March 16, 2026.

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon as a sharp cold front blasts through the region. Driving conditions may be difficult. Local utility outages are possible. Damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to continue to monitor the Current Students weather page for updates.

The university remains open and operations are running as scheduled.
