Skate on the world’s largest, naturally frozen skating rink, the Rideau Canal, with the Global Opportunities and International Services Office (GO-ISSO) on Thursday, January 29, 2026 from noon to 2:00 p.m.
Students can borrow skates from the GO-ISSO—while quantities/sizes last—or rent skates, helmets and other accessories from kiosks on the canal in advance. Visit the National Capital Commission (NCC) website for more information about equipment rentals.
Meet at the GO-ISSO on the fourth floor of MacOdrum Library at noon and walk to the canal. Be sure to dress warmly (mittens, hats, warm pants) because it can get cold out there! Visit the NCC website for more details on the Rideau Canal Skateway.
To register for this event, please complete the form on the GO-ISSO website. For any queries, you may contact GO-ISSO by email at isso@carleton.ca or by phone at 613-520-6600. A signed waiver is required to participate in this event.
