A course is a class you take (for example, BIOL 1003).
A credit is the value you earn for completing a course. At Carleton, most one-term courses are worth 0.5 credits. Each course indicates the credit value in the registration description.
This distinction matters because some university processes—including your OSAP application—ask you to report your registration in credits, not the number of courses.
You can verify the number of credits you’re enrolled in through Carleton Central: click registration, then add/drop classes and review the total credit hours.
If the number of credits you enrolled in differs from the credits you provided to OSAP, please email the Awards and Financial Aid Office from your cMail account. Include your student number and how many credits you plan to be enrolled in for the fall and winter terms.
