Environment Canada has issued an orange warning for freezing rain for Ottawa on Wed. March 11, 2026.
A significant freezing rain event is expected to begin the evening of Tues. March 10 or early morning on Wed. March 11, 2026. The prolonged period of freezing rain may last up to 24 hours in some areas.
Roads and walkways will likely become icy and slippery. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic. Prolonged utility outages are likely. Significant damage to property, including some buildings and trees, is likely due to the weight of ice.
Be very careful if walking or driving. Stay away from fallen power lines.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Ottawa for the potential for significant freezing rain on Wed. March 11, 2026.
A prolonged period of freezing rain is possible, including up to 24 hours for some areas. Ice accretion or build up of 10 to 20 mm.

The university remains open and operations are running as scheduled.
