Carleton University will be closed from end of business hours on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 through Sunday, January 4, 2026 inclusive for the holiday season and will re-open on Monday, January 5, 2026. Winter term classes begin Monday, January 5, 2026.
Holiday Building Closures
During the holiday closure period, all campus buildings will be locked. Authorized students, faculty and staff may gain access using their Campus Card at card readers in buildings equipped with that technology.
Campus Safety Services (CSS) will provide access to buildings on an emergency basis only. The CSS Communication Centre can be reached at 613-520-4444 in emergencies, and 613-520-3612 for general enquiries.

Scheduling and Examinations
Fall 2025 final examinations take place from Monday, December 8 to Saturday, December 20, 2025. The Scheduling and Examination Services office will be open with extended hours on Saturday, December 20 (8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.) and Monday, December 22 (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) for pick-up of completed examinations written on Saturday, December 20 through the McIntyre Exam Centre. All pick-ups will take place in Nideyinàn 133.
Recreation and Athletics
Athletics facilities will be closed Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025 and Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026. For more information regarding specific facility operations over the holidays, including the Ice House, fitness centre and pool, visit the Athletics website.
Residence and Dining Services
Residence will be closed for the holiday period. Only those students who have registered, received permission and paid to remain will be eligible to stay in residence over the holiday closure. For all others, residence will be closed from noon on Sunday, December 21, 2025, until noon on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
The last meal served in the dining hall will be breakfast which ends at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2025. During the closure period, no dining service outlets will be open. The first meal served in the dining hall will be dinner on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
