The Carleton Board of Governors is seeking a distinguished individual to succeed Chancellor Yaprak Baltacioğlu, whose term ends in June 2025.
The Chancellor plays a vital role at Carleton University, serving as the ceremonial head and a key ambassador for the institution. The Chancellor presides over convocation ceremonies, represents the university at various events, and supports the university’s mission and values.
In accordance with the university’s practices, the Board and Senate have formed the joint Committee on the Selection of the Chancellor to oversee the process.
The committee invites members of the University Community to nominate individuals for this esteemed role. Nominations should specify the nominees’ connection to the university and speak to the eligibility criteria below.
Eligible candidates should be:
- A Canadian citizen
- A person of national and preferably international stature
- A person whose appointment would enhance the university’s reputation and promote our aspirations
- A person who appreciates the distinctive role and nature of universities in Canada
- A person available to participate in convocation ceremonies and other ceremonial events
- A person of vigor and enthusiasm who can support community engagement and act as an ambassador for Carleton
- Individuals with a connection to Carleton preferred
