Carleton University and the Carleton University Academic Staff Association (CUASA), which represents full-time faculty and professional librarians, have been in collective bargaining since October 3, 2024. The university’s goal is to achieve a negotiated agreement that is fair to CUASA employees while reflecting the significant fiscal challenges Carleton faces.
On January 28, 2025, CUASA applied to the Ministry of Labour to request the appointment of a conciliation officer. Conciliation is a normal step in the bargaining process and does not mean that a labour disruption is imminent. The university looks forward to working with the faculty association’s bargaining team and the conciliation officer to reach an agreement.
