Fall Term Exams: What You Should Know

Fall term final examinations and fall/winter course mid-term examinations take place Saturday, December 11 to Thursday, December 23, 2021.

The Exam Support Network will be operating during the final exam period from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and is available to help with any exam related issues, questions or emergencies for online and in-person exams.

Be sure to check your exam schedule through the Carleton mobile app or Carleton Central and write down when and where your exam is taking place. Students registered with the PMC writing at an alternate location will receive exam location details in advance of their final exam by email.

For in-person exams, keep an eye on the weather, as snow or heavy rain may delay your commute. Arriving early guarantees you have time to use the washroom or refill your water before you enter the exam room. Ensure you are familiar with and follow the latest COVID-19 guidelines, including mask wearing and social distancing, when you arrive on campus to take your exam. Complete the COVID-19 Screening Self-Assessment in advance of arriving on campus to avoid any delays when arriving on campus. The format of online examinations may be unfamiliar to some students. You are encouraged to review how to properly navigate the Brightspace platform prior to taking your online exam. Please be aware online examination start and end times are stated in Eastern Daylight Time zone (EDT – Ottawa’s time zone).

Ensure that you have the proper tools and equipment in place to successfully complete an online exam. If you are located in a country where access to Brightspace is blocked by a firewall, you can use Carleton’s Virtual Private Network (VPN). Be sure to configure the VPN prior to the start of your examination. Should you experience any technical and infrastructure failure while writing your exam, please contact the Exam Support Network.
