The Carleton University Senate has approved the use of flexible, compassionate grading options for undergraduate students in the Winter 2021 term. Students have the option to convert one 0.5 credit grade to Satisfactory (SAT) for the Winter 2021 term. Alternatively, students who have not already requested a SAT grade for the Fall 2020 term may instead request that a passing grade for one full year (Fall/Winter) 1.0 credit is converted to SAT in the Winter 2021 term.
Students will not need to request an UNS grade. With the exception of failing grades assigned as a result of an academic integrity violation, Fail (F) grades will automatically be converted to UNS by the Registrar’s Office in May 2021.
SAT/UNS grades are not used in the calculation of CGPA, which means that changes in academic performance due to the current disruption will not affect students’ permanent records.
Students are encouraged to carefully review the SAT/UNS FAQ webpage which covers a variety of questions and information relating to SAT/UNS. If you have questions about SAT or need assistance in making this decision, please contact the Academic Advising Centre for assistance.
Once your final Winter 2021 or full-year (Fall-Winter) grades appear in Carleton Central, you will be able to request to designate one of these passing grades as SAT using the SAT Request Form after April 16, 2021.
