SAT Request Form Now Available

The Carleton University Senate has approved the use of flexible, compassionate grading options for undergraduate and special students in the Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 terms.

You will have the option to convert one 0.5 credit grade to Satisfactory (SAT) for the Fall 2020 term and one 0.5 credit grade to SAT in the Winter 2021 term. Alternatively, you may instead request that a passing grade for one full year (fall/winter) 1.0 credit is converted to SAT in the Winter 2021 term.

Once your final Winter 2021 term 0.5 credit grades appear in Carleton Central, you will be able to request to designate one of these passing grades (minimum D-) as SAT through the SAT Request Form. The deadline to submit a SAT Request Form is June 30, 2021. However, students who have applied to graduate and who wish to submit a SAT Request Form must do so by May 28, 2021.

You will not need to request a UNS grade. Failing grades will automatically be converted to UNS.

Students considering opting for SAT are encouraged to connect with an academic advisor virtually by contacting the Academic Advising Centre.

Students are also encouraged to use the Hypothetical Course(s) and Grade(s) option in your Academic Audit to determine how opting for SAT in any of your courses instead of a letter grade will impact your progress in your program, your CGPA, scholarship assessment and graduation eligibility. Students are also advised to wait until all of their Winter 2021 term grades appear in Carleton Central before making a decision regarding SAT. Additional information and answers to a variety of questions is available on the SAT/UNS frequently asked questions website.
