Early summer term final examinations and full summer course mid-term examinations take place Friday, June 19 to Thursday, June 25, 2020.
Be sure to check your exam schedule and write down when your exam is taking place and the type of online assessment you will be writing. Please be aware that the examination start and end times are stated in Eastern Daylight Time zone (EDT – Ottawa’s time zone). In the circumstance that you reside in a time zone outside of Canada and your exam is scheduled to take place at an unrealistic time (e.g. 3:00-6:00 a.m. in my local time), please email email@example.com to inquire about accommodations.
Being prepared for exams is an important part of your success. Given that summer term final examinations will be held online, you should ensure that you have the proper tools and equipment in place to successfully complete an online exam. If you are located in a country where access to cuLearn is blocked by a firewall, you can use Carleton’s Virtual Private Network (VPN). Be sure to configure the VPN prior to the start of your examination. Should you experience any technical and infrastructure failure while writing your exam, please contact the emergency exam support line.
The format of online examinations may be unfamiliar to some students. We recommend reviewing how to properly navigate the platform prior to taking your exam. We encourage students who have additional questions about examinations to visit our FAQ page.
Exam time is often stressful for students. Make sure you’re taking time for yourself and your mental health by taking breaks, prioritizing your sleep and maintaining good eating habits. If the stress or anxiety is proving to be too much or if you just need to talk to someone check out Carleton Health and Counselling Services and Empower Me, available virtually. Carleton University undergraduate students have access to free, confidential, 24/7 counselling services in the community through Empower Me. Empower Me support is available by telephone, video-counselling or e-counselling for free.
Once you’ve successfully navigated exam season you’re probably wondering when you can expect your final grades. The exact date that your grade will be available depends on how quickly your instructor submits the grades for the course. The instructor generally has 10 calendar days after the date of the final examination to submit final grades. Once submitted, it will take a few days for the final grades to be approved by the Departmental Chair and the Dean of the Faculty that administers your course.
