About SOAR

Carleton University will host the sixth annual SOAR Student Leadership Conference with special guest speaker, Tessa Virtue, Canadian Olympic Figure Skater, on Saturday, January 18, 2020. SOAR provides an opportunity for students to develop their leadership potential. Aimed at both new and seasoned student leaders, SOAR challenges previous notions and theories about leadership.

This full-day conference at Carleton includes a conversation style welcoming address with Tessa Virtue, Expert Speakers from the Ottawa and Carleton community, education sessions facilitated by student leaders and panel presentations. With engaging workshops and influential presentations, students grow leadership skills in an experiential way.

About Tessa Virtue

Tessa Virtue competed in three Olympics, alongside Ice Dance partner Scott Moir, and holds a total of five Olympic medals making her one of the most decorated figure skaters in Olympic history. Now having retired from competitive skating, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir have launched two new tours, the Thank you Canada Tour and most recently the Rock the Rink tour. These tours gave them the chance to give back to the communities that supported their careers along the way.

Tessa will be welcoming student leaders at the SOAR 2020 Conference to share her message and experiences with the Carleton community.
