To All Members of the Carleton Community,
Carleton University and CUPE Local 910 have commenced bargaining and would like to keep the university community informed on the progress of negotiations. Members of CUPE Local 910 are employees in the Department of Facilities Management and Planning who carry out a wide range of trades, grounds, maintenance and repair, building operations and related work on behalf of the university.
Talks have been respectful and productive, and the parties have agreed on several items. On July 17, 2018, CUPE Local 910 notified the university of its intention to file for conciliation. During the bargaining process, either the union or employer can ask the Ontario Ministry of Labour for assistance, and the ministry then assigns a neutral third party to assist the parties. The university and the union welcome the assistance of a highly experienced conciliator to resolve outstanding issues and finalize renewal of the collective agreement.
The university and the union are committed to bargaining in good faith. We will continue to provide updates throughout the bargaining process to keep you informed.
