To all Members of the Carleton Community,
On behalf of the university community, faculty, staff, students, administrators and the board, I sincerely want to welcome members of CUPE 2424 back to campus.
The absence of these members over the past few weeks has served as a reminder to all of us about the importance of the work that CUPE 2424 members carry out. Their work and contributions are a fundamental part of who we are as an institution.
I’m pleased that we were able to reach a settlement, but I realize that the negotiations took a strain on everyone.
There is no doubt that the bargaining process was a challenge and I recognize that a lot of emotions have been stirred up by the process. While it may be difficult at times to come back together, I am confident that the unique and caring approach of the Carleton community will prevail and that we can begin to heal and continue to support and serve our students.
