Carleton Ravens women’s basketball player Elizabeth Leblanc is this week’s TSN 1200 Female Athlete of the Week.
Leblanc and the Ravens captured the women’s basketball program’s first national title on the weekend after defeating Saskatchewan, 69-48, in the U SPORTS Final 8 gold medal game in Regina.
The fourth-year senior capped off her outstanding season by averaging 9.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest in the Ravens’ three games at the national championships. Leblanc was named the gold medal game’s MVP as well as a U SPORTS Final 8 Tournament All-Star selection.
On March 7, Leblanc was chosen as the U SPORTS Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the first Raven to receive the national honour.
Elizabeth, a native of London, ON, is pursuing a Psychology (BA) degree at Carleton University.
EDDIE EKIYOR – Men’s Basketball
2nd year – Ottawa, ON
Carleton Ravens men’s basketball player Eddie Ekiyor is this week’s TSN 1200 Male Athlete of the Week.
Ekiyor, a sophomore, was named a U SPORTS Final 8 Tournament All-Star after guiding Carleton to a bronze medal finish at the national championships in Halifax. Ekiyor and the Ravens defeated the McGill Redmen, 76-71, to claim a medal at the event for the eighth consecutive season.
Over a three-game stretch at the Men’s Final 8, the 6-foot-9, 237-pound second-year forward averaged a team-leading 19.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, while shooting a highly efficient 23-of-41 (56%) from the field.
Earlier in the week, Ekiyor received U SPORTS Second-Team All-Canadian honours at the annual national awards gala.
Eddie, a local product from Ottawa, ON, is studying Psychology (BA) at Carleton University.
