To All Members of the Carleton Community,
I am writing to advise that last evening the Board of Governors revised its Code of Conduct to emphasize that the best decisions are made when members openly and freely debate any and all of the issues that come before the Board. The Board also clarified that, in the spirit of fiduciary responsibility, members of the Board are expected to make decisions in the best interests of the institution and that the collective decision of the Board is paramount.
The revised Code also acknowledges that any member complying with the Code may publicly express personal disagreement or comment with respect to decisions of the Board.
Finally, each Governor will continue to be required by the Bylaws to sign the Code of Conduct on an annual basis to serve as a member of the Board.

The next Board of Governors meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018.
