It’s the middle of December and that means the Awards Office is getting ready to confirm enrolment for the release of OSAP winter term funding. If you have a second OSAP instalment set to release at the beginning of January, this article will help you understand the process, and what you can do to ensure your OSAP funding will release on time.
How your enrolment is confirmed
On December 18, fifteen days before the university reopens for the winter term, we’ll start to confirm enrolment to OSAP. If you are registered in the course load you indicated on your OSAP application and there are no holds on your OSAP account, your enrolment will be confirmed automatically. There is no action required of you.
Ensuring your enrolment will be confirmed
To see if your enrolment is ready to be confirmed for the winter term, visit your OSAP account check status page and ensure there are no holds or outstanding documents. The status of your second instalment should be “required”. If you have outstanding documents, submit them as soon as possible.
You should also check your OSAP message centre and Carleton email account regularly for messages from the Awards Office. If we are unable to confirm your enrolment, your funding will be placed on hold until you take action.
How and when you get your funding
After your enrolment is confirmed, the Ministry will instruct the National Student Loans Service Centre to release your funding. If you opted in for fee redirection, all or a portion of your OSAP funding will be sent directly to Carleton to pay your winter term fees. The remaining amount, if applicable, will be deposited into the bank account you specified on your Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement. Once your enrolment is confirmed, you will be able to review how much was sent to Carleton on the funding summary page of your OSAP account.
The earliest the Ministry will release funding is December 27. If your enrolment is confirmed mid-December, you can expect to see your funding the first week of January.
