The bad news is that we aren’t really sure what exactly causes hangovers and, as a result, we aren’t really sure how best to treat them. Fact is, the most effective way to make sure you wake up feeling Beyoncé-level flawless is to abstain from drinking or if you are going to drink, to do so in moderation (check out our guide).
If you have overdone it though, these tips may help:
- Alcohol is a diuretic and being dehydrated is not helping anything. Ideally, you’ve been alternating water with your alcoholic beverages all night. Have another before bed and more in the morning. Give coconut water or Gatorade a try for an extra dose of electrolytes.
- Complex carbs may help with nausea as they balance out your blood sugar (a great addition to your pre-drinking meal too). Adding some honey (again, blood sugar levels, plus vitamin B), bananas (potassium, magnesium, various vitamins) and/or protein (energy boost while replacing amino acids) to your breakfast menu may help too.
