Carleton Ravens rugby player Sarah Jane Vezina is this week’s TSN 1200 Female Athlete of the Week.
Vezina played an instrumental role in the Ravens’ 33-21 victory over McGill on Saturday, September 30. The 5-foot-10 prop scored a career-high two tries against the Martlets, which resulted in Carleton’s fourth win of the campaign.
Vezina, a third-year student-athlete, was Carleton’s top player in the victory, and her subsequent selection as game MVP was the first nomination of her career. With the win, Vezina and Ravens also celebrated the program’s first-ever playoff berth since joining the RSEQ in 2012.
Vezina, a native of Georgetown, ON, is pursuing a Public Affairs and Policy Management degree from Carleton University.
QUINTON SOARES – FOOTBALL
Receiver & Kick/Punt Returner – 3rd year – London, ON
Carleton Ravens football player Quinton Soares is this week’s TSN 1200 Male Athlete of the Week.
Soares, a third-year receiver, was the Ravens’ special teams standout in the dramatic 33-30 Panda Game victory over the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday, September 30.
The 5-foot-10 wideout put up career numbers as the team’s kick and punt return specialist in Week 6 of the OUA football season.
Soares had four kickoff returns for 91 yards, along with eight punt returns for 143 yards, including the opening score of the game on an exceptional 84-yard touchdown. Soares also added one catch for nine yards at the receiver position.
Soares, a native on London, ON, is studying Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton University.
